With Technorati, I recommend skipping the simple search and going straight to the advanced search. I got many more relevant results when I used the advanced search feature.
I also opted to skip registering my blog with Technorati. I double-checked the WordPress FAQ and, as I suspected, it would have been a duplication of effort. Every time I update my blog, WordPress automatically sends a ping or a notification out to a service called Ping-o-matic which promptly notifies several other sites, Technorati being one of them. If you have a WordPress blog, don’t rush right over looking for your posts. From looking at my own blog on the site, Technorati seems to be about two weeks behind. Ah, high tech or low tech, backlog is what it’s all about when you’re a cataloger.
For fun, under advanced search, input your own blog address and see who is blogging about your site. If you click on the “Everything in the Universe About …” icon for your blog, you will also get a list of your posts and see your Technorati ranking. My ranking was 7,966,799 if you can believe that. What, my amusing cat pictures and keen, incisive commentary on Learning 2.0 technologies don’t guarantee me inclusion in the Top Ten blogs?
Bring me Technorati and the Wookie! They will suffer for this outrage. Mwuwhahahaha!
