Normally, I don’t go in for romance novels, but I would totally read this book if it existed. If the print is a bit small for you, the cover reads “Quicky in the Swamp of Death” by Clair Suckeree. From the author of “Love in a Coal Mine” and “Wild Dogs Ate My Lover” (also sounds like a winner). Tag line: “In the end, he could only satisfy the swarm of hungry leeches ….”

Motown is always associated with summer for me and I think Rod Stewart does a nice tribute to the genre in his “The Motown Song.” For you younger viewers, the people in the cartoon are of singers who were big back then–Madonna, Vanilla Ice, Michael Jackson, etc.
So I picked up a bag of butter-toffee-flavored Cracker Jacks for lunch and inside, instead of a toy surprise, I found a little paper inviting me to “download fun, authentic prizes to your smartphone at crackerjackapp.com”. Mere words cannot express how wrong this is. Mark me, people, this is how Western civilization ends–not with a bang, but with an app.
